We are a Statutory Board
We are a statutory board under the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock
established under the Cotton Act No.21 of 2005.
This act empowers the Board to regulate the Cotton industry as it relates to the production and ginning of seed Cotton; to control the production and marketing of Cotton and to provide with or incidental to the foregoing.

The inspectorate department is the core department that ensures all ginning companies abide by the regulations of the Cotton Industry and enforces the Cotton Act
Functions of the Inspectorate
- To interpret the Cotton Act no 21 of 2005 of the Laws of Zambia to all players in the Cotton Industry
- To enforce the Cotton Act No 21 of 2005 of the Laws of Zambia in the Cotton Sector
- To enforce Cotton Quality Standards from production through to Marketing
- To seize any unlicensed Cotton products
- To stop, search and detain any vehicle or conveyance being used for conveying any suspected unlicensed Cotton Products
- To inspect all books, records, returns reports and other documents relating to Cotton or any dealings in Cotton
- Seize machinery or any motor vehicle or material with which the inspector has reason to believe an offence under this act has been committed or is likely to be committed
- To collect information relating to the purchase, sale, import or export of Cotton from any person connected with Cotton business
- To check on the validity of ginners operating Licenses
- To inspect all Cotton processing plants and check on the compliance to Health and Safety regulations
- To de-register all Cotton Companies not abiding by the Cotton Act no 21 of 2005
